Japan

Japan is a country located in Northeast Asia. An archipelago consisting of a total of 14,125 islands, Japan stretches across the northwest Pacific – reaching from near Taiwan in the south up towards Russia in the north. The majority of its population live on its four main islands: Hokkaido, the northernmost island; Honshu, the largest and most populous; Shikoku, the smallest of the main four; and Kyushu, the second most populous, located nearest to the Asian continent. Its capital is Tokyo, is one of the most
populous cities in the world.

Japan’s closest neighbours include South Korea, North Korea, China, and Russia.
