2021 Perth USAsia Centre Annual Report

By Perth USAsia Centre

he Perth USAsia Centre is Australia’s leading think tank committed to the transfer of knowledge and strengthening Australia’s relationships across the dynamic and evolving Indo- Pacific region, including the United States.

In 2021 with continued support from our partners, the Western Australian and Commonwealth Governments, The University of Western Australia, the American Australian Association Limited, Rio Tinto, INPEX, Wesfarmers, Austal, Chevron and Woodside, the Centre expanded its support to Australia’s Indo-Pacific engagement agenda, producing a steady stream of commentary, research and analysis.

Throughout 2021 the COVID-19 crisis continued to test the Centre’s resilience, adaptability and preparedness in many ways and at all levels of the organisation including, core business, staff, stakeholders and the broader community. Despite this, the Centre maintained its primary activity focus and continued to improve the hybrid business model.

This year we engaged audiences from over 70 countries, hosting over 250 thought leaders from 34 different cities across 14 countries to participate in more than 60 online and in-person bespoke and public events including 18 high level dialogues.

This Annual Report highlights our 2021 achievements across our three primary program pillars:

  • Indo-Pacific regional focus
  • Australia-Indo-Pacific-US relations
  • Education and outreach
