Professor Gordon Flake Interviews Jeremy Bruer
Professor Gordon Flake recently interviewed Jeremy Bruer, Australia’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Their conversation focused on the rapid pace of Bangladesh’s economic development and the impact of COVID-19 on the country’s impending graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status and increasingly important trade relationship with Australia.
The country’s COVID-19 Development Response Plan, involving partnerships with UN agencies and Australian NGOs, and the significance of a bilateral trade and investment framework arrangement (TIFA) were also discussed. This is illustrative of a shared commitment to facilitate private sector led growth across a much wider range of trade and investment issues, and incentivise opportunities for building government-to-government links and future high-level dialogues.
