Roundtable with Will Hodgman
The Perth USAsia Centre hosted the High Commissioner of Australia to Singapore, Will Hodgman, for a private roundtable discussion on 12 August, 2022.
The High Commissioner discussed Singapore’s regional outlook and opportunities for Australia and Singapore to meet shared challenges in a rapidly evolving economic and strategic environment.
Topics of conversation included means of leveraging the Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement, managing regional food and energy security in the wake of Russia’s war in Ukraine, bilateral cooperation on digital economy, maximising the United States-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity, and managing humanitarian challenges such as the Rohingya crisis.
Singapore is one of Australia’s closest regional neighbours. The bilateral relationship has been vital for ensuring peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Singapore is also Australia’s largest trade and investment partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its sixth largest trading partner overall.
The two countries have a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and deep agenda for cooperation.
