Roundtable with Matthew Steinhelfer

On Wednesday, 13th September 2023 the Perth USAsia Centre hosted Matthew Steinhelfer, US Department of State Senior Advisor for AUKUS for a roundtable attended by leaders from government, business, industry and education.

In recent years, the US-Australia Alliance has gone from strength to strength. With the announcement of the historic AUKUS partnership, it is more steadfast than ever. Building on our longstanding bilateral relationship, AUKUS brings a new level of integration in security and defence-related science, technology, industrial bases and supply chains.

In an increasingly uncertain regional strategic environment, this deepening cooperation will be imperative to stability in the Indo-Pacific. And to make sure AUKUS is successful, leaders in Australia, the UK and the US are focused on combing their strategic efforts to deliver on AUKUS’ promises, including Australia’s acquisition of nuclear submarines.
