Public Address by Matsukawa Rui, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense

On the 30th September 2021, the Perth USAsia Centre was pleased to host a public address by Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Matsukawa Rui.

The geostrategic environment of the Indo-Pacific is rapidly changing. As great power rivalries and territorial disputes have intensified, many regional governments are reappraising their defense and strategic outlooks for the region. To respond to these challenges, Japan is strengthening its security posture, including through its alliance with the United States, the Quad, and other strategic partners.

Minister Matsukawa joined us via webinar to share her insights into Japan’s defense and strategic outlook in response to contemporary regional challenges.

Matsukawa Rui is the Japanese Vice-Minister of Defense.
