The upcoming 2026 Japan Symposium
The Perth USAsia Centre is hosting its ninth annual Japan Symposium. This year’s symposium commemorates the 50th anniversary of the landmark NARA Treaty, an agreement that laid the foundation for the modern Australia-Japan partnership.
It will explore the history and future of one of Australia’s most vital bilateral relationships. The evening will feature a keynote address by Masafumi Ishii, former Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia and Managing Director of the Japan Institute of International Affairs Platform, with remarks from His Excellency Kazuhiro Suzuki, Japanese Ambassador to Australia, and His Excellency Andrew Shearer, Australian Ambassador to Japan.
