Improving Australia-Vietnam links towards further educational opportunities

On Tuesday 24 October 2023 the Perth USAsia Centre and the Australia Vietnam Policy Institute welcomed Professor Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT University, to Perth for a roundtable discussion on enhancing educational links between Australia and Vietnam.

Over the past fifty years of diplomatic relations, the relationship between Australia and Vietnam has grown immensely. With work now underway to elevate the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, there is ample opportunity for the two nations to strengthen bilateral relations further, especially through education.

Professor Cameron was also invited to deliver a keynote address organised by The Perth USAsia Centre and RMIT University. In his public address, he illustrated the benefits of these bilateral ties through the university’s regional presence, RMIT University Vietnam, in providing quality, cross-cultural learning opportunities and in supporting shared economic objectives. He remarked that RMIT was proud to be a part of Vietnam’s past, present and future story.

Following his address, he was joined in conversation by Elucidate Education Co-founder Christian Bien and RMIT University Vietnam alumna Hang Nguyen, who shared their lived experiences and perspectives on the future of education for Australia and Vietnam.
