Discussion on Australia-India Army Cooperation

On Thursday 5 October 2023, the Perth USAsia Centre was pleased to welcome Brigadier K Mahesh (Indian Army), accompanied by Brigadier Brett Chaloner (Australian Army) and Captain Akhilesh Menon (Indian Navy), to discuss the future of Army cooperation between Australia and India.

The Indian and Australian Armies differ in key respects – particularly when it comes to size. But those differences present complementarities that help ensure both sides can benefit from each other’s respective strengths – and ensure their contributions to regional security add up to more than the sum of their parts.
