Roundtable with Abraham Denmark

On Friday, 4 August 2023, the Perth USAsia Centre was honoured to host a roundtable discussion with with Abraham Denmark, Senior Advisor to the US Secretary of Defense for AUKUS.

As Senior Advisor, Mr Denmark advises the US Secretary of Defense and coordinates efforts across the Department and interagency to deliver on AUKUS’ objectives. This includes helping Australia establish a conventionally armed nuclear-powered submarine capability and helping accelerate the development of advanced capabilities to serve security and stability in the region.

In the wide-ranging discussion, Mr Denmark emphasised the historic nature of the AUKUS agreement, which would see an unprecedented level of technology sharing between the US, the UK and Australia.  Western Australia will play a crucial role in the partnership, hosting nuclear submarine visits at HMAS Stirling.
