Andre Winarto joins the Perth USAsia Centre

The Perth USAsia Centre has appointed Andre Winarto as its Program Director.
As a member of the leadership team, Andre leads the centre’s strategic approach to programs, manages the program team and oversees our events, delegations, and collaborative activities.
Prior to joining the Centre, Andre was a strategy consultant at EY for eleven years, including eight years serving as a member of their Global Executive Leadership Team for Energy & Resources, where he led EY’s global energy thinktank and managed a portfolio of ten programs and two hundred research and client projects. He and his team of 60 strategic insights analysts and knowledge managers produced thought leadership reports on the energy transition that were launched at conferences such as COP28 and were featured in global media outlets.
Earlier in his career, Andre was a senior leader at Western Power, where he led the Commercial function that included procurement, supply chain and fleet operations. He was then promoted to Group Manager, Distribution, where he led over 2,000 Distribution network staff and contractors who helped to keep the lights on in Perth and the southwest interconnected system. Andre has also served as Strategy Manager at Optus and as a Business Development Manager and a Commercial Analyst at Shell Australia.
Originally a Sydney-sider, Andre has called Perth home for the past eighteen years after having also lived in Brisbane, Melbourne, Jakarta, Sydney, Chicago and London. In 2012, he was recognised by WA Business News as one of their “40 under 40” award winners. He also won the AbaF (Australian Business Arts Foundation) NSW state award for his adviceBank probono consulting advice to the organisers of the CrocFestival for Aboriginal children in Halls Creek. He has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNSW, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the Leadership for Senior Executives Certificate from Harvard Business School.
