In Conversation with John Berry

On Tuesday 25 July 2023, the Perth USAsia Centre hosted Ambassador John Berry (Ret.), President of the American Australian Association and former US Ambassador to Australia, for an in-conversation event in Perth.

In recent years, the US-Australia Alliance has gone from strength to strength. Enhanced cooperation through the monumental AUKUS partnership and the Quad has seen the US and Australia grow closer than ever before. And in an era of increased Indo-Pacific strategic uncertainty, the Alliance will be imperative to ensuring the security of Australia and our regional partners.

As our cooperation ramps up – including the regular rotation of US submarines under AUKUS for which preparations are already underway in Western Australia – US and Australian leaders are focused more than ever on building our partnership.

Ambassador Berry provided an on-the-ground US perspective on the Alliance, discussing the future of our shared cooperation and the upcoming US presidential election. Ambassador Berry was joined for an in-conversation segment by the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Chair of the Perth USAsia Centre.
