2020 Perth USAsia Centre Annual Report
By Perth USAsia Centre
The Perth USAsia Centre is Australia’s leading think tank committed to strengthening Australia’s relationships across the dynamic and evolving Indo-Pacific region, including with the United States.
In 2020 with continued support from our partners, the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments, The University of Western Australia, the American Australian Association Limited, Rio Tinto, INPEX, Wesfarmers, Austal and Chevron, the Centre expanded its support to Australia’s Indo-Pacific engagement agenda, producing a steady stream of research, analysis and commentary.
Throughout 2020 the COVID-19 crisis tested the Centre’s resilience, adaptability and preparedness in many ways and at all levels of the organization including core business, staff, stakeholders and the broader community. Despite this the Centre maintained its primary activity focus and transformed its business model to adapt, transitioning primarily to a digital platform.
No longer bound by geography the Centre was able to reach a far greater global audience. This year we engaged audiences from over 73 countries and hosted over 200 thought leaders from 23 different cities across 11 countries. They participated in more than 85 online and in-person private and public events, including five major dialogues.
This Annual Report highlights our achievements during 2020 across our three primary program pillars:
– Indo-Pacific Regional Focus
– Australia | Indo-Pacific | U.S. Relations
– Education and Outreach
