It is also an arena of geopolitical rivalries, border disputes, and simmering domestic and cross-border conflicts that put the region at risk of instability. Our research and programs in this area explore the implications of these developments for Australia and cover a diverse range of topics, from emerging security threats like climate change and cyberattacks, to the future of multilateralism amid intensifying great power competition.
