The Perth USAsia Centre welcomes proposals from researchers, practitioners and subject matter experts whose work contributes to informed public discussion on the Indo-Pacific.
As a non-partisan think tank based in Western Australia, we publish evidence-based analysis that informs policy debate and strengthens Australia’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific. Our work focuses on the strategic, economic and political issues shaping the region, with particular attention to Australia’s role and Western Australia’s position as a gateway to the Indian Ocean.
We are interested in original analysis that offers fresh insights into contemporary policy challenges, identifies emerging risks and opportunities, or advances practical policy solutions. Contributions should be written for an informed, non-specialist audience, avoiding unnecessary jargon while ensuring analytical rigour.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome proposals on topics aligned with the Centre’s research priorities, including but not limited to:
- Indo-Pacific strategy and regional security
- Australia’s international relationships in the Indo-Pacific
- Economic security, trade and investment
- Critical minerals, energy and supply chains
- Emerging technology and strategic competition
- Regional governance and diplomacy
- Western Australia’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific
Successful submissions will typically:
- Present a clear, original argument or perspective.
- Explain why the issue matters now. Proposals that include WA perspectives are particularly encouraged.
- Offer practical policy insights or recommendations.
- Be grounded in evidence and relevant expertise.
- Be accessible to policymakers, industry leaders, media and the broader public.
Submission Guidelines
Due to the volume of external submissions and article proposals we receive, each is reviewed against our editorial priorities, research program, existing publication pipeline and publishing schedule. Submission of a proposal does not guarantee publication, and unfortunately we are unable to provide detailed feedback on every proposal.
Before submitting, please complete the preliminary proposal form below.
