By The Hon Kim Beazley on 28 August 2017
United States | Security
This year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the joint US-Australian defence facility at Pine Gap. There is much debate about the facility but not huge amounts on the public record. Director and Distinguished Fellow the Hon Kim Beazley AC, when Defence Minister in 1988 made a speech about its role in arms control. As it was not made in parliament it has tended to disappear from the public record. It is dated but still relevant so we restore it to the public record now.
This speech was delivered in 1988 by the Hon Kim Beazley, AC when Defence Minister in the Parliament of Australia.
