Roundtable Discussion
With Rebecca Tomkinson, Western Australia’s Agent General for the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe region.
Date: Monday, 16 March, 2026
Location: Winthrop Hall, The University of Western Australia
Event details
This conversation will provide valuable insights into how Western Australia is positioning itself in the UK and other European markets – and what this means for trade, investment, energy security, and strategic policy.
The UK and Europe are major partners for WA. Taken together, the region is WA’s fourth largest trading partner, with $16.6 billion of goods traded in 2024. Deepening engagement with these markets is critical to diversifying and decarbonising the state’s economy, with strong interest across sectors such as energy, mining, defence, renewables, and professional services.
As Australia looks to deepen its long-standing partnership with the UK and expand its strategic cooperation across Europe, Western Australia has a pivotal role to play – not only as a leading supplier of critical minerals, LNG, and emerging clean energy resources, but also as a central hub of the AUKUS partnership.
