2024 US Election Watch

On Wednesday 6 November, the Perth USAsia Centre hosted a public US Election Watch event to provide real-time analysis as Americans decided on the next president of the United States.

The outcome of the US presidential election has international implications, particularly within the Indo-Pacific.  

To discuss unfolding voting results and the significance of so-called ‘battleground’ states, Centre CEO Professor Gordon Flake and Senior Research and Program Fellow Alana Ford were joined by members of the community in academia and business.  

Panels throughout the morning covered a broad range of topics from the future of US-Australia defence ties to the role of gender, institutional trust, and key demographic trends in shaping the election.
