AUSTRALIA AND JAPAN: SECURING AN OPEN AND RULES-BASED INDO-PACIFIC ECONOMIC REGION
The 2021 Japan Symposium, convened by the Perth USAsia Centre in collaboration with the Japanese Consulate in Perth, discussed complex issues facing the two nations in terms of free trade and value chains; and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation between Australia, Japan, and regional partners.
On Wednesday 17th March and Wednesday 24th March, private half day dialogues were held followed by a public event on Thursday 25th March.
Ambassador's address
The public event included keynote addresses from Ambassador Yamagami Shingo and the Hon Julie Bishop, who were joined by the Hon Richard Court and Professor Gordon Flake for a question and answer panel discussion, moderated by Hayley Channer.
