Premier of Western Australia, Minister for State Development; Trade and Investment; Economic Diversification

Hon Roger Cook MLA is the Premier of Western Australia. With oversight of the key portfolios of State  Development; Trade and Investment; Economic Diversification, Roger has been a member of the Legislative Assembly since 2008, representing the seat of Kwinana.

Prior to entering politics Roger studied Arts and Public Administration at Murdoch University before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations and a Master of Business Administration at Curtin University. He was active in campus politics and established the National Union of Students as its first National President.

After completing his studies Roger worked for a number of Federal and State Members of Parliament including Jim McGinty, Stephen Smith and Senator Chris Evans in policy and electorate officer roles.

Roger is passionate about Aboriginal issues and served as the Chief Executive Officer of a number of Aboriginal Land Councils, along with a communications role assisting industry and government to reach agreement with Aboriginal Native Title groups. He was previously the National President of Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation.

Roger is a strong advocate for health and fitness, competing in regular triathlons, marathons and rides for muscular dystrophy along with the walk for diabetes. He is an avid supporter of the Western Force and Fremantle Dockers.

Roger Cook was born and raised in Western Australia. He lives with his wife Carly, and has two adult children.

Rebecca Tomkinson
Agent General for Western Australia in the United Kingdom/Europe region

Rebecca Tomkinson is the Agent General for Western Australia in the United Kingdom/Europe region.  Ms Tomkinson and her team based in London and Frankfurt work to attract investment and grow trade into Western Australia from the United Kingdom, Europe and Israel.

An experienced chief executive and non-executive director, Ms Tomkinson has held senior leadership roles across government, industry, and the not-for-profit sector.  Most recently, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, the peak body representing one of the world’s most significant resources jurisdictions. Prior to that, she led the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia, overseeing the delivery of critical health services across the State’s vast and remote regions.

Ms Tomkinson’s career spans strategic policy, investment attraction, regional development, and cross-sector partnerships. She has served on numerous government and industry boards, including Infrastructure Western Australia, Crown Perth, the Perth USAsia Centre, and the AROSE International Space Council. She is the immediate past Chair of the Government of Western Australia’s Future Health Research and Innovation Fund Advisory Council. 

Raised in regional Western Australia, Ms Tomkinson brings a deep understanding of the State’s economic and geopolitical value. She is committed to strengthening Western Australia’s global profile and fostering enduring partnerships, trade, and investment ties internationally.

Brianna Peake
Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas

Brianna Peake is the Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Brianna and her team in the United States work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the Americas region.

Brianna has over 20 years’ experience in agribusiness and food supply chains, stakeholder engagement, international trade relations, operational management, sustainability, community investment and customer service. In her roles with CBH Group, she has managed relationships with local, state and federal Governments and regulators as well as international companies. 

Most recently, Brianna was the Chief Stakeholder Relations, Sustainability and Strategy Officer at CBH Group where she was responsible for Corporate Affairs, Government and Industry Relations, Grower Relations, Sustainability, Strategy, DailyGrain and the Growers’ Advisory Council. 

She is an alumni of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. 

Brianna holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management and a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Finance.

Bryce Green
Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Indonesia)

Bryce Green is the Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Indonesia) and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Bryce and his team based in Indonesia and the Philippines work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses in the ASEAN region.

Bryce has a strong background in communications, media and strategic advisory consulting. He joined the Western Australian public service in 2022 as a member of the Strategic Partnerships team at Invest and Trade Western Australia, supporting the State’s key relationships in the ASEAN region.

Prior to entering the public service, Bryce was based in Jakarta as a risk management consultant and analyst for one of the region’s premier strategic advisory firms.

Bryce is also a former journalist and broadcaster in Western Australia. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and speaks Bahasa Indonesia.

Betty Yang
Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Singapore)

Betty Yang is the Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN (Singapore) and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Betty and her team based in Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the ASEAN region.

Betty has previously worked in business development roles across the public and private sectors where she built strategic relationships with international clients in the Asia Pacific, North America and Europe to drive commercial outcomes. This includes almost 12 months working in the Client Services team in Invest and Trade Western Australia. 

For the past 15 months, Betty worked in the Climate Industry Action team in Strategy Policy where she has developed a strong understanding of Western Australia’s energy transition and decarbonisation commitments. 

Betty holds a Master of Business Administration as well as Bachelor and Master of Arts (English Language and Literature). Betty speaks fluent Mandarin and has a strong understanding of East and South East Asian cultures.

Cathy Kng
Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for Greater China

Cathy Kng is the Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for Greater China and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Cathy and her team based in Shanghai and Hangzhou work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the Greater China region.

Cathy has most recently been the Regional Director – ASEAN (Primary Industries) in the Invest and Trade WA Singapore Office where she provides support to Western Australian agrifood businesses looking to export to the ASEAN region. 

Prior to this, Cathy was the Director Investment and Trade in the Singapore Office where she progressed investment and trade opportunities for the State in key sectors such as energy, health and medical life sciences and innovation.

Cathy holds a Bachelor of Science (Food Studies) and speaks a number of languages, including English, Mandarin, Malay and Korean.

Ian Martinus
Investment and Trade Commissioner for India-Gulf

Ian Martinus is the Investment and Trade Commissioner for India-Gulf and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Ian and his team in Mumbai, Chennai and Dubai work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the India-Gulf region.

Ian is an economic development specialist with decades of experience in investment and trade, business development and strategy as well as international education and training.

Ian’s consulting and economic impact work spans defence industry, emerging technologies, agritech and advanced manufacturing. He has extensive experience working with government, industry and academia in cybersecurity, innovation and data.

Most recently, Ian worked at the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC) where he led the commercialisation and development of go-to-market strategies. As Head of Commercialisation and Impact for the CSCRC, Ian promoted Australia’s capability in cybersecurity-related products and services created by Australia’s best cyber security researchers in partnership with industry.

Ian holds a Doctor of Business Administration (Information Systems) and speaks fluent Japanese and conversational Indonesian.

Phil Gorey
Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia

Phil Gorey is the Acting Investment and Trade Commissioner for North East Asia and works as part of Invest and Trade Western Australia.

As Investment and Trade Commissioner, Phil and his team based in Japan and South Korea work to attract investment and grow trade opportunities for Western Australian businesses within the North East Asia region.

Phil most recently worked as the Deputy Director General, Resources and Project Facilitation at the Western Australian Department of Energy and Economic Diversification where he facilitated State significant projects in areas ranging from the resources and oil and gas sector through to agriculture and tourism.

Phil has more than 20 years’ experience across a range of service areas including natural resources management, environmental assessment and the regulation of mining and heavy industry.
