European Delegation WA Mission

On Monday 14 October the Perth USAsia Centre hosted a delegation of 25 European ambassadors and foreign officials for a private roundtable to discuss Western Australian perspectives on the Indo-Pacific. 
 
Europe’s interest in the Indo-Pacific has grown due to the region’s strategic importance amid US-China competition, its critical role in global trade, and concerns about regional security. Since launching its Indo-Pacific strategy in 2021, Europe has steadily strengthened its cooperation with the region.  
 
As a like-minded partner, Australia can play a significant role in supporting Europe’s Indo-Pacific engagement. The Centre’s experts highlighted that Western Australia is well-positioned to enhance their strategic cooperation, given its long-standing economic and people-to-people ties to the region, as well as its pivotal role in critical mineral supplies.
