
On Friday 14 March, the Perth USAsia Centre hosted a business lunch with the Right Honourable Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the UK’s former Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific and Minister for Defence Procurement.
Attendees engaged in a robust discussion about the opportunities and challenges facing the Australian defence industry amidst a rapidly evolving global environment, as well as the future of the steadfast Australia-UK partnership.
The AUKUS partnership will see the UK and Australia’s defence industries grow closer than ever before. And, as the world grapples with the implications of Trump 2.0, Australia-UK industry collaboration takes on renewed importance.

The Rt. Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan
UK former Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific, Minister for Defence Procurement, and Minister for Trade who negotiated the UK-Australia trade deal.
The Rt. Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan is a former UK politician who served as the MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency for the Conservative Party from 2015-2024. During her parliamentary career, she held numerous ministerial portfolios, including serving as Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Minister for Defence Procurement, Minister for Trade, Minister for Defence Procurement, and most recently the Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific. In this role, she spearheaded work to operationalise the UK’s tilt towards the Indo-Pacific, engaging extensively across the region. A chartered accountant by trade, she now consults on defence industry, drawing on her deep regional networks and knowledge of the sector to drive new and innovative partnerships.
