Business Briefing – AUKUS and Nuclear Stewardship

Tuesday 15 October 2024

Join the Perth USAsia Centre for a business briefing with Mr Greg Meyer, Senior Vice President, Strategic Growth at Fluor Corporation, a major US defence prime that provides technical and project expertise on national security and nuclear operations.

Under the AUKUS agreement, US nuclear submarines are set to rotate through Western Australia from as early as 2027.  This historic agreement will require government and industry to work together more closely than ever before: to build a nuclear-ready workforce, develop the right policy and regulatory settings, and maintain a social licence to operate.

A nuclear engineer and former US submariner, Mr Meyer has decades of nuclear stewardship experience across both government and the private sector.  As Australia works to build its own nuclear capabilities to support AUKUS, this discussion could not be more timely.

Join us for a special industry briefing followed by Q&A with both Mr Meyer and Jasmin Diab CSC. Jasmin Diab offers a wealth of knowledge on nuclear safety and security, with 22 years’ experience as a military leader countering nuclear threats, and now as the Managing Director of Global Nuclear Security Partners in Australia.
