What are sea lanes of communication (SLOC)?

Jennifer Parker is an Expert Associate at ANU’s National Security College and an Adjunct Fellow in naval studies at UNSW Canberra. She also serves as the Nancy Bentley Associate Fellow in Indo-Pacific Maritime Affairs at the Council on Geostrategy.

A former Royal Australian Navy officer with over 20 years of service, Jennifer specialised as a Principal Warfare Officer with deep expertise in anti-submarine warfare, including training with the Royal Navy. She held operational and strategic roles nationally and abroad, including as Director of Operations for the Combined Maritime Forces in Bahrain.

Jennifer holds master’s degrees in Strategy and Security (UNSW) and Law (ANU), and is admitted as a legal practitioner in the ACT. Her research focuses on maritime security, law, uncrewed capabilities, force design, and defence strategy.
