The United States of America

The United States of America (US) is located on the North American continent, made up of 50 states and one federal district (the District of Colombia – home to the country’s capital, Washington DC). The US also has five overseas territories (lands that belong to, but are not considered part of the US): American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and
the US Virgin Islands.
