↗ Overview
The United States of America (US) is located on the North American continent, made up of 50 states and one federal district (the District of Colombia – home to the country’s capital, Washington DC). The US also has five overseas territories (lands that belong to, but are not considered part of the US): American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
