INDONESIA'S INFRASTRUCTURE DEFICIT

The Perth USAsia Centre together with the Australia Indonesia Business Council hosted a roundtable luncheon with Dr David Ray, Indonesia Infrastructure Initiative.

Dr David Ray drew upon the work of the Indonesia Infrastructure Initiative the water, sanitation and transport sectors the briefing will outline the current status of the infrastructure deficit and its impact upon the economy, what trends we are likely to see through to 2030, and the emerging opportunities for private sector engagement in the delivery and financing of key infrastructure services.

There are sound reasons why Australian business has a strong level of engagement in relation to imports from Asia. But, there are clear opportunities for Australian firms to broaden this relationship... with the currency expected to continue to ease, export opportunities are also likely to rise. The challenge for Australia is to rebalance the economy with new sources of growth to supplement our traditional strengths in minerals and energy.
